Chelsea Clocks
Chelsea clock production began in 1897 with the introduction of the Ships Bell clock containing a specially designed clock works that replaced the pendulum. Patented in the United States and England, Chelsea Clock rapidly expanded its offering of Ships Bell clocks to include a wide variety of clocks for the home and office.
One of the early developments of the Chelsea Clock Company was the the Ship's Bell clock. This particular item proved to be a very popular one, not only for use at sea, but also for home use.
The history of Chelsea Clock is rich. Elvis Presley was a huge fan, often purchasing in quantities larger than life. U.S. Presidents and Secretaries of State frequently presented visiting dignitaries with a Chelsea clock. From Teddy Roosevelt to Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, there has always been a Chelsea clock in the White House.
